Swimming Pools
Pools not only provide countless hours of recreation but also add a beautiful backdrop to your home. The home pool industry is growing rapidly. There are four basic options available: concrete or gunite pool, vinyl pool, a fiberglass pool, or an above-ground pool. The costs range from the low end of $1,500 to the high end of $40,000 for typical pools. However, an average in-ground pool runs most families about $25,000.
Concrete or gunite pools are of the highest quality but also the most expensive. Installation of a gunite pool is a large production which includes the custom design of a pool for a particular site. Permits must be obtained to start construction. Once the construction starts expect lots of heavy equipment at your home which will not have a pretty effect on your landscaping. Because of this, it’s a good idea to have an agreement with the contractor to have your yard repaired after the installation.
Fiberglass pools have a full fiberglass “shell” placed directly in the ground. The installation is much simpler than a gunite pool as the shell is lowered by a crane directly into a hole that has been dug. If you would like, it is possible to create an entire sun room around the pool, so that it is enclosed.
Vinyl pools are the most cost effective in-ground pool. However, they are the least durable. A pool liner is placed around the perimeter and the vinyl liner is put into the hole attached to the track.
