The Importance of Landscaping
Regardless of how impressive the interior of a home is or how grand the architecture, if the front approach to the house is barren of landscaping, the impression the house makes on its visitors will be significantly diminished. Landscaping plays an integral role in the impression one’s home makes and in its “curb appeal.”
Landscaping, when endeavored, should be done correctly. A plan should be devised that will ensure that the home is accented to its best advantage. This means not only choosing appropriate plants and vegetation but also ensuring that the plants and greenery in general are maintained, year round.
In Florida’s hot climate, some people may have problems finding flowers and plants that can survive and thrive during the hottest months of the year. While many of the more delicate northern flowers will have issues, there are any number of tropical and sub-tropical plants that not only appreciate warmth, but look their best when it is hottest.
A similar problem arises with grass. The soft, thin bladed types of grass that exist so nicely in cooler climates have a tendency to brown out by the middle of the summer in the warmer climates. This creates a problem because no one wants brown grass all summer. Fortunately, there are types of grass that can be put in place, either via seed or sod, which will not turn brown in the summer unless there is no water available.
Overall, landscaping plays a huge role in the appearance of a house both for visitors and for potential resale. If planned appropriately, it can also contribute to energy savings and other benefits.
