Hardwood Floors
Have you ever thought about upgrading your carpets and linoleum to beautiful hardwood floors? Hardwood floors can turn any house into a sophisticated home; easy to clean, easy to shine. However, not all hard wood flooring is made or designed the same. If you plan on upgrading you need to do considerable research to figure out which is the right type of hardwood flooring for you.
The first mistake many people make is choosing hardwood flooring purely based on how it looks. While it’s true that many types of wood look the same, there are actually two main categories of wood floors: solid wood flooring and Engineer wood flooring.
Solid Wood Flooring
You can get solid wood flooring as either prefinished or unfinished. In this case, you would have to put a finishing coat on it yourself. This is the more traditional wood floor, made out of thick wood planks, and as such reacts to the weather, especially humidity.
Engineering Wood Flooring
While the quality of solid wood flooring is uncontested, for a little cheaper option you can purchase engineered wood flooring. Engineered wood flooring is made up of several think planks of wood, the top being of a higher quality wood for appearance. This type of flooring is easier to install, as you can use nails, glue, or even staples.
Wood flooring can add a great deal of value to a home, so why not invest today?
